The 22^nd Y. S. Hsu Science and Technology Award selection process is now open for applications from today until Wednesday, February 21, 2024
(Internal university recommendation deadline: Thursday, February 15, 2024).

1. This matter is handled in accordance with Letter No. (112) Xiang-Ji-07, dated December 27, 2023, issued by the Mr. Hsu Yu-Shang Memorial Foundation (Attachment 1).

2. The award categories for this selection are as follows:

   (1) The 21^st Y. S. Hsu Science and Technology Chair:
   Awards are given in five categories Nanotechnology, Information and Communications Technology, Optoelectronics, Biotechnology and Medicine, and Green Technology. One recipient will be selected in each category, for a total of five recipients.

   (2) The 21^st Y. S. Hsu Science and Technology Paper Award:
   Awards are given in six categories Nanotechnology, Information and Communications Technology, Optoelectronics, Biotechnology and Medicine, Green Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. Two papers will be selected in each category, for a total of twelve awarded papers.

   (3) The 11^th Y. S. Hsu Science and Technology Invention Award:
   Awards are given in six categories Nanotechnology, Information and Communications Technology, Optoelectronics, Biotechnology and Medicine, Green Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. One recipient will be selected in each category, for a total of six recipients.

3. This award adopts a fully online application process. Eligible applicants are requested to submit their applications via the Foundation’s website within the application period:

4. With regard to recommendation letters for the Y. S. Hsu Science and Technology Chair, applicants who wish to request recommendation and signature by the University President should follow the instructions below:

   (1) Applications must be recommended by the applicant’s department (institute) and college. By 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2024, applicants shall prepare and submit one copy each (including electronic files) of the University’s college/department award recommendation application form, application materials, and a draft recommendation letter to the Center for Teaching and Learning Development for consolidation. After obtaining the President’s approval, the signed recommendation letter will be formally submitted to the Foundation.

   (2) Electronic files should also be emailed to the Teaching Development Center’s award mailbox at ncku-award@ctld.ncku.edu.tw.
